I have only tried the carne asada fries and they were delicious!! The meat was nice and seasoned! The salsa were good! It says it has pico de gallo but I only saw tomato no onion or cilantro. Definitely will come back to try more. My wait time was about 15 minutes.

Mr Compadre (aka Señor Buddy) is part of an impressive parque de carritos in Fairview called the Fairview Fork. The facility includes ample indoor and outdoor seating, a full bar, and even a stage for karaoke et al. To the tacos, though. The carnitas tacos were delicious, everything sparkling fresh and the meat itself a mix of crisped edges and unctuous tender bits. I appreciated the radishes and plentiful lime wedges. The unexpected highlight here was the chile toreado. In my experience this is usually a deep fried whole chile. At Mr Compadre they split a large jalapeño and sear it on the plancha with some onion petals and plenty of salt. The chile and onions soak up the glaze left by the carnitas. It was easily the best tasting chile toreado I’ve had, and now I am curious how widely their preparation differs. I guess I am fixing to find out. #tacos #chiletoreado #carritos #whatpassesformytacotrail

Was in the area decided to give it a try. Food was delicious I got the taquitos al pastor and wow it’s amazing! Defiantly recommend. I will defiantly be driving the 30 minutes to get that again. Horchata was ok not too sweet but I would get it again. Hubby got the wet burrito said it was delicious. And got champurrado and he finished all of it so I assume it was good lol. Also the gentleman working there was super nice. Good service.

Mr. Compadre Taqueria, nestled at 23830 NE Halsey St in Wood Village, Oregon, stands out as a vibrant jewel among the taco offerings on the east side. This taqueria shines not just because of its prime location within the Fairview Fork—a lively park of food carts featuring ample seating, a full bar, and a stage for karaoke—but mostly due to the quality and authenticity of its food.

Stepping into Mr. Compadre, you quickly notice the care in every dish served. The carne asada fries are a must-try—the meat arrives perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy, while the accompanying salsas balance richness with fresh acidity. Though the pico de gallo leaned more toward tomato-heavy, its flavor upheld the dish’s charm.

The carnitas tacos are a revelation. Each bite marries crispy edges and melt-in-your-mouth softness, accompanied by crisp radishes and plenty of bright lime wedges to elevate the experience. But what truly intrigues and delights is the chile toreado. Unlike the usual deep-fried version, Mr. Compadre’s take involves a large jalapeño, split and seared on the plancha with onion petals and salt. This technique results in a smoky, caramelized chile that perfectly absorbs the savory glaze from the carnitas. It's a bold, inventive twist that showcases the kitchen’s mastery and respect for tradition.

The menu also offers memorable hits like the taquitos al pastor, gorgeously spiced and crispy, alongside rich options such as the wet burrito and traditional drinks like horchata and champurrado. Service here is warm and personable, adding to a genuine, homey atmosphere that invites repeat visits.

What sets Mr. Compadre Taqueria apart is its balance between fresh ingredients, nuanced flavors, and creative authenticity—qualities that take simple street food and elevate it to something exceptional. If you find yourself near Wood Village or Fairview Fork, this is a taco experience well worth seeking out.
